Overview:
Bewdley is an attractive town in Worcestershire, a few miles to the west of Kidderminster, England. This small settlement lies on the western bank of the River Severn, at the very edge of the Wyre Forest. Bewdley was once a major inland harbour in the country. The town’s ancient prosperity is reflected in a profusion of striking 18th century edifices. Though most of the buildings conform to the Georgian style of architecture, there are some attractive earlier buildings, which include Tudor and Jacobean half-timbered houses (e.g., the Wyre Court and Recorder's House on the high street.).Bewdley attracts many visitors every year because of its history, culture and architecture. Bewdley Festival held ever October contains a variety of artistic performances. The town is also popular for its largest inland boat races. Bewdley celebrates a Beer Festival in each August and a carnival in every June.Nearby places include Stourport-on-Severn (4 miles), Great Witley (7 miles), Stourbridge (10 miles), and Shelsley Beauchamp (10 miles).
