Oxford is a gorgeous and compact city located in Oxfordshire County, in South Central England. Oxford is located at 51°45′07″N 1°15′28″W. The Carfax Tower is generally considered the centre of the city. It is about 90 km (55 miles) north-west of London and 110 km (70 miles) south-east of Birmingham. The residential areas on the outskirts of Oxford City include Jericho Barton, Marston, Risinghurst, Binsey, and Temple Cowley. The River Thames flows through the city.

History:
Oxford was first inhabited during the Saxon period. At that time, it was known as “Oxenaforda”. The city started developing with the founding of St Frideswide's nunnery in the 8th century. The Great Western Railway and the North Western Railway connected Oxford with London in the 1840s. Oxford has experienced quick industrial and population expansion in the early 20th century. During that time, the printing and publishing industries were well established in the city.
