Overview:
Slough is an ethnically diverse town located in Berkshire County of South East England, United Kingdom. It is also a unitary authority known as Borough of Slough. The town lies about 20 miles (32 km) east of Reading and 22 miles (35 km) west of London city centre.
Major areas of the present town were parts of Buckinghamshire. Borough of Slough was formed over many years by the merging of villages along the Great West Road between London and Bath and Bristol.
The Borough of Slough extended slightly into Surrey and Buckinghamshire on April 1, 1995 to include Colnbrook and Poyle. Slough gained its charter as unitary authority on April 1, 1998. The current unitary authority was created a Borough by the town's third Royal charter.
he town features the Slough Trading Estate, which Britain’s first such estate and is the largest in single ownership. The Estate is also one of the largest in Europe overall. Slough has an extensive transport networks that makes it one of the major trade centres in the south east of England. The main campus of Thames Valley University is also located here.
